What’s the Worse That Could Happen

I have a motto that I try to live by:

Believe in yourself and dream above the clouds. I do and I believe in you.

It’s not easy to believe in yourself or to follow your dreams. Fear often stops us in our tracks. Family members who don’t support us can cause us to not believe in ourselves.

Bill Cosby once said: In order to succeed, your desire for success should be greater than your fear of failure.

But how do we achieve that success? How many of you watch NCIS? If there’s one thing I learned from Gibbs, it’s to listen to your gut.

The secret of getting ahead is getting started.  (Mark Twain)

Dreams get nowhere unless we put them into action.

It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves.  (William Shakespeare)

Failure, sadly, is part of that ladder to our success. Failure shouldn’t be looked at negatively, but rather turn it around and use it to learn and to boost yourself farther up that ladder.

I can accept failure, everyone fails at something. But I can’t accept not trying.  Michael Jordan

It’s fine to celebrate success but it is more important to heed the lessons of failure.  Bill Gates

Facing the fear of the unknown is something most of us strive with. It holds us back. We’ll even find excuses on why we can’t succeed.

He that is good for making excuses is seldom good for anything else.  Benjamin Franklin

Worst than facing your fear to jump in and paddle to the shore of success is a relative or friend who insists on taking your paddles away for your own good.

If someone you love is putting you down or holding you back from your dream to succeed, you must make a choice. And that is perhaps the biggest fear on your road to success.

We must learn to ignore the nay-sayers in our life. They are either jealous or ‘just trying to show us the error of our way.’ Belief in oneself, even when someone you love tries to hold you back, is how YOU will succeed.

Magic is believing in yourself, if you can do that, you can make anything happen.  Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Life’s like a movie, write your own ending. Keep believing, keep pretending.  Jim Henson

Sometimes we just can’t take that last step: putting ourselves out there, unveiling our souls to the world.

It is easy to have a lot of paintings or projects hanging around that are ‘almost done.’  Thomas Kinkade

You will never rise above the image you have of yourself in your own mind.  Joel Osteen

Believe like Leonardo Da Vinci:  Obstacles cannot crush me. Every obstacle leads to stern resolve. He who is fixed to a star does not change his mind.

Be proactive. Follow your dream no matter your age, but remember it takes hard work and some stumbling. Ignore those that don’t believe in you.

For every one person that doesn’t believe in you, there are so many more who do.

I came up with my motto because one person has constantly been a naysayer in my life. I had to make a decision – did I believe I could succeed, that I could overcome obstacles?

The answer was simple. Yes. Yes, I do believe in myself and I believe in you and your dreams.

And remember – there’s a time to work and a time to have fun, as we learn from Mark Harmon (NCIS Gibbs).

Don’t give up. I believe in you.

LHR and PAWS for success.
