Reference Books Gifts for the Writer You Love

23 Days Before Christmas

Continuing my showcasing of books that would make the perfect gifts.

Do you have a writer in your life? Thinking about giving them clothes or a gift card? What about an excellent reference book?

I have 2 suggestions.

Robert L Bacon’s How to Write What People Will Pay to Read is a great choice. This book is short but jam-packed with information and sells for only $2.99 plus Mr. Bacon is an author so he knows what guidance will help us the most.

Have I bought this book? You bet! And I use it as I write. I wrote a previous post review and I gave it 5 stars. This book is great for the beginner or for an experienced author and contains important tips on grammar and marketing.

As described in Amazon: No-nonsense, concise answers to hundreds of writing and publishing issues you must know so people will pay to read your book!

I’ve known Mr. Bacon for a number of years and he’s edited the first chapters of two of my novels. His knowledge is quite impressive and he’s caught many mistakes that I didn’t notice.

For only $2.99, this is the book any writer should have on hand.

Be sure to visit his Amazon author page and add him as a favorite:

Jason Matthews is another exceptional author whose book How to Make Market and Sell EBooks would make the perfect gift. For those of us that are authors, we know just how difficult it is to market our works. This book is just what an author needs. The Kindle version is $5.99 and well worth the price.

I first met Jason in a writer’s group and I was impressed with his knowledge and all the research he does into how to market so I know that this would make a wonderful surprise gift for your author.

From Amazon:

Everything for writers who sell ebooks. Desktop publishing (or e-publishing) enables indie authors to keep the bulk of the royalties. Discover the best ways to:

* use social media–build author platform

* format and upload for Amazon, Smashwords, Barnes & Noble, Apple, Google and others

* convert documents to any format (epub, mobi, pdf and more)

* sell books online

My suggestion? Buy both reference books and don’t forget yourself too if you’re an author!
